Go on-line and find ads that are close to what your car is set up. Only choose the higher priced ones of course, then take you bills to them as well. Say you find S2's around 11,000. Tell them about your wheels and show the reciete. Then show them about the work you have done to the car and prices. They aren't going to say, well in the books 10,100 plus 6,000 of work, they might give you about half of the money you spent on it. If a lot of work was done by you, you can say this is JUST parts which will look better. It all depends on the insurance company though. You can also tell them how long you have been with them and maybe no accidents/tickets or using your dectuable or anything like that. That way they might give you some room to get more because you haven't gotten anything in return. Lets up know how it turns out!

Just have them find the car and have all the parts and repair just like your old one and delivered to your door. I think that is fair in terms of indemnification.

You fail to see the "cost of ownership"..

I agree with Fishey.
A friend of mine had a 1987 NA 944 he bought new. He was broadsided by a truck running a stop sign, the car had only 40k on it. He fought to get full blue book value and that was with State Farm. This was back in 98 I think.

I hope you get more for the car, give's us some hope that we can be compensated for our cars, reason why we have insurance in the first place.

This is the reason why next year I'm getting collector car insurance on both my Porsche's and the Scirocco. The premium is based on an agreed value.

Agreed value is the way to go. Right now the book value on my car is probably more than I paid for it but after I finish it I'll definitely have it insured for an agreed value just to avoid these type of headaches.

I see the cost of ownership. I just dont see 16000 as the cost of ownership over 18000 miles.

I also dont see a $3000 value for an S2 with 72k new shocks etc. in need of a motor. if we work from there the value jumps a few grand.

Legoland has the right idea. that is the only way to get a proper value. That is why i got the stickey post. i am taking what cars acutally went for, and building up. while i may not get 16000, i will get a chunk more than 10k.

That is how i got an additional 4k when my acura was stolen. i contacted every dealer within 100 miles of me. i asked geico to buy a certain 94 a dealer had, and i would give them the difference in book between my 92 ant their 94 with the same mileage. this was wayyyy back in 98.

you cant get a low mileage S2 that needs nothing, and i stress nothing for 10k. nobody will sell one for 10k. check the ads.

I will ask them to buy me the 90 with 30k miles advertised on the PCA website for 17k. I will pay them the difference for mileage, and year, and ask them to add the cost of a clutch since the original rubber is about to chunk.

forget about my wheels etc.

how does that sound? funny how 10 suddenly seems awfully low.

also, i couldnt get agreed value until january when the car is 15!

I dont think there is an owner of an S2 with under 95k (mine had 74k) on this board that would give their car away for 10k.

Fishey,
Nada lists an 89 S2 coupe with 75k miles high retail at 10,122
Nada lists a 90 S2 cabrio with 75 k miles high retail at 15,618

what year, and how many miles on your cab? are you willing to sell your for 15,618 less what it takes to make it perfect in order to meet the definition of high retail? plus or minus a mileage and/or year adjustment?

now doesnt 10 seem a little low?

Also, the sportscarmarket pocket price guide lists a range of 11,500-14,000 for an S2 coupe, and a range of 14,500-20,000 for an S2 cabrio. The range is for strong number 3 cars.

my car has over 120,000 and is in far better condition then most 944's I see. I have seen cars with 60,000mi that look and drive like compleate crap... Its all about how it was taken care of. If your car needed headwork and ring's at 94k...... (I think I would find the overal condition of the car questionable) because why at 95k would it need these parts unless there was some kind of neglect?... True... you fixed the problem but at 94k it shouldnt have the problem and thus its not a reason for "extra money" ......
Clutch? 94k Well damn dude but thats "maintance" same goes for belts..

Lmao if someone offered me 100,000 for my car I would tell them to go to hell...

Thats not the point. The point is that 15,618 is a reasonable price. 20k? if someone tried to sell me my car for 20k I would laugh at them...

In all reality my car has most likely over 40k in investements into the actual car.

it didnt need rings at 74k. i did the rings because i planned on taking the car to de's, and had the motor open. i didnt need the $450 water pump either. i did it because the motor was open. i did need a head gasket that's all.

nada puts a 90 cab with 120k at 14,600. willing to start there and work down on your car?

If what you are saying is given the opportunity to buy one of two identical 944s. one with new belts, motor work, shocks, rims, etc. and one with the work done a while ago, you would pay the same price, then there is no use continuing this conversation. You know the car with the fresh work, new rubber etc. is worth more. now i just have to get a $$ amount on that "more" factor.

I bet andy would have gladly given me 13k for my car (if it wasnt red, and without the 17" rims he doesnt like) instead of the 9k he paid for his before the work he had just done which brings him up to around 11k around the same time mine was stolen.

Getting a $$ amount on that more factor will be the challenge. Geico doesn't race 944's--they don't care about belts, water pump, and other things they would call "maintenance" items. Our problem is they cost SO much for us to fix...

Hope I'm wrong...but if I tell Allstate I paid $400 to fix a leak, they wouldn't add that to the value.

How much does this "agreed" value insurance cost??

Andy thank you. My point is the same as andy's...

14,600 is a fair price.

They seem to be giving you over Nada list.

You have to understand that insurance is a SCAM! there not out there to be "fair".......

agreed value cost a lot less than you are paying now. only problem is the car has to be garaged, used only for pleasure, and can't be left at the train, or out of your sight.

mileage is limited to about 2500 a year, etc. plus you usually have to get an appraisal if the value is over a certain amount. thats how it works on my firebird with jc taylor.

wanna make a pool on what the final number before tax and deductible is?
