Default Need some help about 951 codes, please!

Hello there,

Despite I've read a lot of threads about differences between 220CV and 250CV 951 models and all related options, Turbo and Turbo S, 051 as engine code or chassis code and so on, I'm still unable to solve some questions.

Well, the point I've already am the owner (see pic) of a '86 red 951, 220 CV, in great condition and completely original, but I'd like to buy another one to make it some modifications and track tunning.

I've found (not yet bought) an unit in a pretty condition and price, but there are some questions about the sticker that I dont understand or have doubts. Attached you can see the sticker, and now the questions:

- It is a model manufactured end of '87, but '88 model (letter J in VIN), so it could be a 250CV (Turbo S) model since they are in this VIN Range, true? But engine code should be 52 instead of 51? (I can't examinate the engine block to see the engraved code)

- Gearbox code is 5R; this trasnmission implies locking differential? My actual 951 it is 5P code and doesn' have it. it would the same than 220 option?

- Color code are LY9Y/LY9Y CG. I believed that it meaant exterior/interior material, but car is black exterior (LY9Y, black metallic) but interior is burgundy (where is that coded) and seats are partial leather/textile. I realized that muy actual 951 is LM3A/LM3A LT and is guards red (OK) with black interior (where is coded?) and complete leather (it is LT?)

- Some idea what means codes C41, D22, D97? I cant identify it; i belived that Cxx was the country but there is no country with 41 code. The other codes seems to be:

418 – Body Side Molding
567 – Windshield green graduated tint
573 – Air Conditioning
593 – Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)
650 – Electric Sunroof
666 – Without lacquer preservation and chrome preservation

I will appreciatte so much any light about it

Thank you vey much and best regards

Hey there, yes 51 is the engine code showing non-S. 52 is for the 88S and 89.

Here is my 89 sticker - a little different format, but the fields are labeled...

I can shed some light on your color code queries.

When it says LY9Y/LY9Y, that refers only to the exterior paint. The reason there are two is to reserve one spot in case the car has two-tone paint. Two-tone paint was somewhat common on the 924, and even optional on some 944s (although very very rare). Many cars have this double exterior paint code, reserving the second spot for a deviating color when there is one.

Of course this leaves CG as the code for your maroon interior. The code I think contains information for both the color and material (partial leather, full leather, cloth, full seat cloth, script cloth, full seat script cloth, studio Plaid cloth, full seat Studio Plaid cloth, etc. etc.)

Thanks both, and anyone has any idea about what is CG as a interior color?
