WHY? Why did you buy your car?

Many reasons:
1. My dad and uncle have Porsches(my dad's 911 and uncles 911SC and 944)
2. It was the first Porsche I had ever seen that wasn't a 911
3. I can actually afford one and have one now while being in college
4. It's cooler than any new Porsche anyways(Aside from the GT and GTS cars)
5. I have a Porsche in college!!
6. To one-up my dad. Youngest Porsche owner in my family(19 when I got it and he was 27 when he got his 911 in '75).
7. I wanted a project car challenge, and it was either this or a Fox Body Mustang
8. Because I wanted a fun classic car while I'm still young and not completely responsible
I could go on..

I was 18 when my 944 was built, in 1986.
I wanted a 911 since I was about 5 or 6. 928s were cool and desirable when I was in high school. Couldn't afford one, obviously. A friend's father got a 944 NA and I really liked it. Filed it away for a rainy day.
I turned 48 this summer, and decided I wanted a manual fun car. My GF doesn't like riding on the back of my VFR800. It seemed like a good excuse to have fun.
Now, I know much more about early fuel injection, intake, AOS and o-ring management, and have a great time driving it to work. Also practicing wiring, drilling and tapping, Bondo and paint, and a host of other skills.
My Cayman fund was coming along nicely, but today I found out that my Volvo XC70 needs new CV joints and boots and the water pump is leaking. Gaah. Winter is coming.

Because I can have fun while hauling an upright bass.
Also, those hips... How could you not love a car with curves like these?
And the obligatory RWD, manual transmission, non-overboosted power steering, etc. There's a lot to love.

Because I love the way it drives and the way it looks.
Because I can fit my three boys in it at the same time.(Although that won't be the case for long, I'll need to start looking for a Panamera or Cayenne or Macan soon)

i bought mine 10 years ago...right before my 16th birthday.
i didn't get to actually drive it almost a year later though...lol
i used to walk by the house it was parked at for years on the way to/from school. it was sweet looking and way too cheap to pass up.
i closed out a savings account i had at the time full of money from working around the neighborhood for a few years, and bought it for $1000.
the car had been sitting for 7 years in the guy's front yard. fresh plugs, fresh gas, jumpered battery, it started up pretty quickly, but only ran on 3 cylinders, and had flat/old tires...but that was enough to drive it back to my house.
3 weeks later the headgasket blew while it was running in the driveway. full engine rebuild, front suspension refresh, brakes, seats, etc...

Because life is too short to drive boring cars. Also, because I've been a German car specialist for the past 20 years, and a master-tech buddy of mine needed to sell his (Thanks Matt). Also because it handles even better in stock form than some of the other German cars that I had been driving and tuning for years. Lastly, I've always thought they were cool.

To make a confession, I originally bought my car to do an LS1 Swap. Because lightness. That was before I fell in love with how it drives and handles, and honestly for the first time in my life, Porsche in general. I really just like the way they do things, especially after working on crappy American cars for so long. Now I am on a pursuit to really learn how to drive it properly, and have kept the stock drivetrain to do so. After going to the Porsche driving school at Barber, though, now I REALLY want a Cayman...

Three Wheelin'
Bought my first 125HP 924 NA about 12 years ago because i found it so cool looking and exotic yet still affortable when it came to maintainance and taxes...and ofcourse mileage !
Bought my first 924 turbo in 2007 because growing up i wanted more power.
Modified that turbo to be faster than i can handle and realised i missed the elegant balance of a normal 924
...so bought another 924 turbo last year.
Now thinking of getting another 125hp 924NA as there is a company in europe selling modified cyl heads that bring that 2L engine to about 160hp.
They also sell a bolt on kit for the 924NA for 185HP
All these years, drove and been driven in 944s, 944 turbos, S2s and 911s.
Still love my 924s the most, still think they are the best $/smile deal, still think they are the best cars.
