C/L Ad for a 15k 85.5 N/A
Alright. I'm not going to fault the individual for asking $15,800 because I'm sure there's people out there that are willing to pay this for a mint, all original, low mileage 944. I mean hell, I'd pay obscene amounts of money for a showroom stock, mint, low mileage '82 Civic Wagon because I am obviously not all there.
However, should someone tell them it's not an 85.5? It has the early interior. Or did they make a few 85.5s with the early interior and I completely missed it?

EDIT:
I'm not saying it's worth 15k (I don't think it is), I'm just saying I'm sure there's someone out there, somewhere, who has way more money than they know what to do with, willing to drop 15k on a wedge shaped sports car from the 80s. And I envy that person.

I like too how they listed the "transmission fluid" and "differential fluid" seperately. And yeah, not an 85.5 since the .5 implies it was made after the "late car" change over.. Nothing like buying a car from someone who doesnt know what they're selling! I'd say IMHO the car is worth half the asking price. That being said, I hope they get every penny.

Because "Transaxle Fluid" doesn't have the same ring to it. And when you're selling your car to people who have no idea what a 944 is and just saw "Porsche" and "$15,800", those things are important...

I think it's a little high but all day long a 10k car if proof of maintenance is good. I just paid 6500 for my 84 and put another 3 in it for fuel lines, new rims, new motor mounts, fix a water leak and some other odds and ends.
No cheap way around these cars, it is what it is. You want to say you drive a Porsche then deal with it or buy a honda.
It's so funny in here that people want their cars to be worth more money and then when someone puts a high number on one they tell them how high it is. Simple, if it's too much for you don't buy it. If this were the Ferrari 308 market you would be seeing a huge increase in value for an 85 car with low miles (although that many miles is still high for an Fcar.
As far as survivor, yes I agree, it's a 30 year old car with very low miles and what appears to have decent paint and interior. So yes it survived 30 years of ownership and is an excellent example of an early model car. It's not your typical ragged out 944.
No affiliation with owner at all but good on him for setting the bar high with his price.

Looks super nice, I would love to him get the price he is asking. It will only help everyone else who already has one. If the mileage is documented the price is not off at all in my opinion.

Fwiw, I sent a friendly text to let him know the errors in the ad. Not everyone is going to know all the ins and outs of these cars. So sometimes mistakes are easy. Being deliberately wrong on this certainly wouldn't help the sale.

So what?
I hate this ASSumtion that the only reason someone buys a 944 is because they can't afford a 911.
I've never been in love with the 911, ever.
I'd prefer to look at something like this 944 as a better car for 1/2 the price of an over inflated 911
