Well, I finally dug out my invoice from 928s R Us from last year. It lists a part number of 0 261 210 002 and describes it as "Crank Position Sensor - Alternative".

So I'll stand by my original assertion that it's a Bosch sensor that's the same as the Porsche branded one. It may be the 17" lead one. I don't know.

I have a PM to Roger, letting him know about this discussion. He may chime in and confirm (or deny) what I'm saying.

Could this be canonized (at Rennlist)? While I was aware that FAE sensors seem to be 'hit or miss' the information about failure rates, checking continuity (in addition to the resistance) and the difference in length between the Bosch sensor (0.4 mm) will save a lot of people time, money and effort.

I guess I did my part by giving this thread a five-star rating. Thanks to all of the contributors.

You can start at post #207, page 14.

I, too, have a no-start, and one of my FAEs exhibits the same issue. When my Bosch arrive this week, I'll know if that's it.

Do report what happens when you install the FAEs, especially the one with continuity!
I realize this is a very old thread, but if you see this I would love to know if the Bosch CPS’s solves the problem and started your car.

Yes, I installed the Bosch sensors and car started immediately.

One of my new FAE sensors exhibited the ‘continuity issue’.
