Body shop was about $3800 (strip, remove all the dings, fiber work, strip and etch molding for paint, lifetime warranty on the paint). The guy did a fantastic job, especially when I was getting crazy quotes for $8k. Fiber parts were about $700, and I had to by a new nose panel for $220 (someone sat on it), new fog light lenses.. I probably have $4500 in it

Rear bumper is Fiberwerks as as well. Body shop had to do some customizing of brackets. He said it was pretty standard and he has yet to see a "bolt-on" aftermarket fiberglass piece. He is way out in Lone Jack, MO, but I'll drop his name if someone is interested.. Rathburn Enterprises 816-697-2900 (Dave) I had everything drop shipped to him.

Not to bash Ian at 944online, but if you go direct to FiberWerks you can save about $100. They don't have to ship to Ian and he doesn't in turn have to add that to the price and then ship it to you. I had to wait about 5 weeks until they did a batch.

There was a guy at the Auto-x races last year that had a 924 turbo with full Carrera GT body on it. It was really nice looking.

Soundboy.. yeah that went through my mind more than once, then you hit a point where you are closer to the finish than the start. You can't get a quality paint job under $3k any more (unless you have the skills and equipment to do it yourself). All the 944s in great shape that don't need a paint job seem to be $8k plus. I probably have $8500+ total (car included) in this and have what I want (for the moment ;-) ).

I had one body shop quote me $8k for the body work and paint. I told them for that much I would crash this one into their building and buy a new one and still be ahead.

I ran into the same problem getting mine painted. Everyone told me that it'd be between $5-8k for a good (not "great") paint job. One place even told me that their $5k paint job would make my $5k car into a $15k car.

I stripped it down myself and went to Maaco instead. $1.6k later I had a pretty good looking car. No, it's not perfect, but well worth the many $k's I didn't spend. It's held up fairly well for the past year and a half...

That sounds strangely similar to the supercharger kits some people sell for the NA for $5 and $6 grand. Just an insane amount of money for 70 hp or so, I'm curious if anyone has ever bought one...

The wheels are 17" Kinesis K5. Got a great deal on them used from a guy who sold his 968 without them.
