I have checked the wire connection at the oil level sender and oil pressure switch. The oil pressure gauge works fine and the oil level is correct. I am using 10/30 oil for the time being. Could that cause the oil level light to stay on?

Spent 2 whole days working on the 944s. First the red 86-951 It took me forever to repair the power seat switches. How could something so simple be so fiddly? Indictors, loose connection at hazard switch and a couple of fuses, dash lights, and a thorough detailing. The 89-S2 got a diff. oil change, had to weld a piece to the seized filler nut, did an engine oil change, turns out it had only 3.5 liters in it, cleaned oil level sensor. All that is left on the S2 is the throttle body coolant lines are corroded and blocked and to bleed the brakes once again.
Driving them both, the 951 is talking to me more, because of its throaty exhaust and very firm suspension. The S2 is much more refined, smoother, quieter and cleaner.

Update, I changed the cam chain tensioner pads, repainted the cam cover, then no start. I tested all the connections. Then I swap batteries, it starts, then stalls with no restart after 10ft. There must be a loose connection somewhere in the wiring harness or the ECU. Whats say you Rennlisters?

O2 sensor plug is usually near the top of the cam cover. Did you unplug it accidentally?

It will run fine without the O2 sensor. Forgetting to reconnect the engine block ground is a pretty common mistake that might be your issue.

Actually, it was not the DME it was two big loose ground wires under the fusebox. Tough to get to. I used the incorrect length bolt, thus even though they were tight the ground cables were still loose.
Sorted.
Next using the this forums search I found that there is no continuity from the left rear ABS sensor. I should sort that soon. I was planning on selling but after doing all this work.....

I drove the car recently. Wow I forgot how torquey that S2 motor is. It felt more powerful than the Boxster and Cayman I recently drove.
I finally got what I thought was the correct paint for the car but either I was wrong it paint mix was wrong, but it did come come out right.
I will get it professionally done for any new buyer.
