Default My "new" 944

I just picked up a 1985 944 after being 944-less for the past 12 years, if you don't count the 944 that we raced in 24 Hours of Lemons 5-6 years ago.

This is my 3rd or 4th 944 and my family has had about 12 of them. I decided I needed another old car to toy around with since I sold my 928 and our doesn't fill the void. I was looking for an early car because I am weird and I like the old dash. This car fit the bill and is in fairly decent shape, so I pounced on it. So far I have driven it about 800 miles and I am loving being back in a 944. I spent the last few weekends installing a new shift ****, shift lever, hatch spoiler middle section, taking off the rock guards...

I'm looking forward to tinkering with this car and driving it whenever I can.

Enjoy the pics!

Classic, straight, proper color and wheels. What more could a 944 aficianado ask for? Just outstanding. I recognize the road. Miss it like crazy.

Looks great. Sort of look like one of the 80's Porsche ad.

Car looks great, and I'm with you on the early interior (secretly wish my '86 was an early car). It just oozes charm and character.

Speaking of which, let's see a few pictures of the cabin..

Thanks guys! It's a pretty clean car, but it looks a lot better in photos than it does in person. I'll post some more as soon as I can.

Fuchs rims are gorgeous. IMHO one of the best cars ever made. Always makes me smile. She is just beautiful.

Since getting this car about 8 months ago, I have continued to enjoy it more and more.

My commute to the office is 6o miles each way and I regularly drive the 944 3 out of 5 days a week. I find it hard to walk by the 944 in the morning and not want to drive it to work.

Since buying the car, I have done the following improvements/mods
-hatch seal
-hood badge (nicer one I had lying around)
-shift modification
-shift **** (OEM style)
-Momo Prototipo steering wheel (loved this wheel since my first 914 back in 1996)
-Redline trans fluid (huge improvement over the swepco that was in the car)
-reference sensors (fixed random no start issue)
-new stereo with usb and aux (nice for listening to podcasts on the way to work)
-Vitaloni Seabring mirrors on stock bases (motorsport look, and was never a huge fan of flags)
-Hankook Ventus RS3 tires (sticky and very nice for the price)
-FR Wilks PowerProm chip (smoother, faster)
-door handle and mirror gaskets
-rear wiper delete (cleaner looking without it)
-H4 headlights (what a huge improvement)
-red and black Coco Mats (very nice and don't slide around at all)

In the next few months I will be installing new covers on the front seats in black leather with houndstooth inserts, and maybe doing RS style door panels as well as center console delete. I would also like to have the dash refinished.

Here's a few pictures before the new tires and rear wiper delete...should be able to take some more pics this weekend.
