Default Making an interior color code list, please help

Hey everyone,

I would like to make a complete list of interior color codes for the 944 and I need your help.

There doesn't seem to be a list of interior color codes with the name of the color, the code, the year of the car and pictures. So, I'm going to make one. Once I get all the info I will post it on my website and here on the forum, so others can easily find the info.

A few people pointed out that the PET has the interior color codes, but it doesn't. The PET has part number extensions for different colors, but not color codes. One of the reasons for making this list would be to bridge the gap between the color code on the sticker in the hatch and the color name and the Porsche part number. I would guess that most of us already know the interior color of our cars, this is to help those that don't or are new to the 944.

If you want to help me out, please PM, respond or email (kyle@only944.com) me as much info as you can about your car. Here is what I'm looking for.

Year of car
Model of car (NA, turbo, S, S2)
Interior color name (linen, light grey, can can, etc.)
Color code (LQ, 8WC, etc.)
Picture of your interior

Thanks for your help

So, somehow I missed that clarks-garage has an interior color code list. BUT, that list is not correct. Those codes don't match up to the code in the cars, or the codes in the PET. So, if you can, please help out with any info.

So far, here is what I have learned. A color code is year and or model specific. For example, light grey interior in an 87 NA is code"LQ" but light grey interior in a 87 S is "XP".

The more help I get the more knowledge there will be out there about the 944. Thanks guys

My 89 s2 is code NA and I'm pretty sure it was linen.

1986 Turbo

Champagne (PE)

My carpets are slightly darker than original. They were badly faded and I painted them. Last pic is for reference. The last pic is a reference on the carpet with a comparison between the painted carpet and original taken from under the seat.

Bad lighting, terrible photos.

Will have it scanned in high resolution in near future...

Wow. I'm pretty sure champagne is very rare. I've only seen one other. The black dash and door cars are standard, right? Unlike Linen which has a Linen lower dash and door cards.

I've only seen one other 944 with Champagne.

Looks like you've got metal shavings in trunk though!

Nice!

I forgot about champagne. Super rare!

I wonder if anyone ever ordered Pearl White leather. I've seen it in a Slantnose cab, that's it. It really does have a pearl iridescence.

The black dash and door cards are original to the car, so I believe that was standard on the Champagne. I am not sure what the residue in the trunk is.

Hello Voith, I'm very new here (introduced myself just a few hours ago in the New Member Welcome Area), so apologies if I don't know all the appropriate (n)etiquette rules, particularly concerning resurrecting older threads.

I am looking to find out for sure what the name to my interior color is on my 1987 944 S, and this brochure you have is an almost unhoped for source, especially since it is correct for my MY. Kyle from Only944 has been very kind and helpful already, but due to my code (XM) being one he hadn't yet come across the verdict is still out there: I think it's a "Light Grey" from what he has suggested and what I can glean from the pictures you uploaded, but I would really appreciate a higher resolution scan if you can provide one to properly look at it.

Hope this is possible, thanks in advance!

Fantastic resources!! Thank you Dan P it's truly weird that there is no reference to the codes anywhere. But at least having the pictures it should be possible to figure it out

I think a code list would be tougher, just from the amount of time the car was being produced and the slight changes that were made over the years. Look at the 968, there are 20+ colors and each color has between 1 and 7 codes depending on if it's full or partial leather, leather/vinyl, partial to full cloth, etc basically there are nearly 100 interior codes covering just 4 model years. I can't imagine what the 944 list looks like over 10 years.

I believe you can call/write a dealer/Porsche NA with the codes and get some better idea of the 'names' of the colors. Maybe a site like VINAnalytics? Another thing that can help is to just hop on to BAT/PCARMarket and just look at previous auctions and the options code tags on them.

At the end of the day I bet a code like XM is probably just something like a standard color but in full or partial leather.
