Hey guys, I successfully installed the 924 rack. Check the last page of this thread to see the work. That forum cuts the images off if they're over a certain size, so right click the image and open in a new tab if you want to see the whole rhs.

I bought a manual rack from Parts Haven Hayward, CA used of course for $350.00.
Got the correct tie rods for my 1991 S2, also from Parts Haven.
The steering shaft that they thought would fit did not, so we cut and welded an extension in the middle of the shaft by putting pipe sleeve over the cut shaft, installing both ends to get the right distance then welding it.
If you do the cut/weld of the shaft be sure to get the universal knuckles oriented correctly!

Yeah, welding might not be the best option. I have a certain amount of experience though, so I'm not too worried about it. I wrapped both joints in soaked rags, the ends never became too hot to touch. Also, never quench the weld. You wouldn't want to do it with an underpowered MIG welder or something like that either. I used 3/32 sticks at a pretty high current, so got lots of depth to the weld.
It's good to know about the Borgenson option though, I'll do that once I've worn my steering shaft out.
