No, just any old relay won't work... this relay clearly has some sort of logic on it - it's functioning as more than just a basic switch.

Hopefully people will be able to find one like it and get you a part number so you can order a new one.

I think its this relay: PN 94461591501.

Based on the fact that this relay is the only one i dont know what does, and i found a thread with has pictures of it with 4 posts; https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...a-hundred.html

I found this relay in PET only listed as "Relay -- see technical information GR.2 NR.3/85" If anyone know what that means or where to find it that would be awsome

EDIT: More threads which state that engine does not run without this relay; http://www.kcws.org/forum/showthread.php?433-What-relay

I looked on my car, and I have two relays under there, mounted right near the center console. They are near the altimeter sensor, so maybe it has something to do with that?

Do they have the same number and arrangement of connections? If so what are the part numbers on the relays?

Lilja.. based on some reading I've done, that was an 'experimental' relay (basically a "flasher blocking relay") Porsche put into some 84-85 models which altered the air-fuel ratio going into the computer (pin#13 I think) for the first ~2min~40seconds or so. The same way a flasher relay intermittently blocks the power to a turn signal light (making it flash) the relay would interrupt power to a function in the DME that would alter the air-fuel ratio. (Possibly by interrupting fuel injection cycles)

This function was later provided within an updated DME relay, which is why it is not there in later cars. Some more research indicated it is indeed part number 944.615.915.01.

There is one for sale on eBay.co.uk for ~40usd.

The tech bulletin GR2 8503 is as attached below in PDF.

It basically says that there are different injectors for Porsches which may look the same but have different internal resistances.

Possibly this relates to the relay somehow.. they used the relay to make up for different injectors? who knows.

I noticed now I accidently replied in the wrong thread

Anyways yes this has to be the correct relay, atleast it looks exactly the same on the bottomplate. Gonna check with my dealer if he has one, he claimed he had one but needed the partnumber to make sure.

Thank you for all your help thou and hopefully we all learned something new with this
