Default Seats with REMOVABLE halos and no cage?

My car is dual purpose track/road.
I'm considering some Sparco Ergo 2 seats partly for the removable halo. I want to be able to be as safe as possible, use a harness and I want to save weight.

I will have to try to manage the risk factors rather than build a complete system. There is just no way I will be able to get a properly caged care approved for the road. I may be able to approve a bolted half cage with a detachable front but I've read that bolted cages don't really do that much good for you in a crash.

I have read that the halo can save your life in a side impact and that is definitely a plus. I do worry that in a roll, without a cage, the halo, even when detached, can caouse a problem if it keeps my head from moving away. I don't know what is most likely a high G side impact or a roll over?

Halo seats make shoulder checks impossible. Not good for a street car. Any racing bucket without a cage or at least a roll bar is a deathwish in a rollover. I have Halos in my racecar.. no fkn way I would put them in a daily driver.

Removable halo is better if its a street car.. but still dubious without extra roll protection.

I replaced my time X Sparco halo seat with a Cobra Sebring halo for my 944 race car and it's much less obstuctive than the Sparco as far as side view goes. For track applications with a Hans you're good to go and should you drive on the street i imagine it would fare better than some other models, although i haven't tried it in my 911 yet, something i'm going to do this Summer as i have a pair of Sparco Evo's in the 911 !

Cheers
Phil

Thanks guys.
Since they tightened the regulations a couple of years ago and stopped aproving full cages for street cars there will be no cage for a while. So the question is which solution is least dangerous. A seat with removable halos, or a non halo seat. There will be a roll bar of some sort.

Halo seats are a nightmare on the street. Peripheral vision is badly impaired. If you have to get one then I agree with the Cobra version with the halo cutout but it would still be dangerous on the street in my opinion. I had a solid style some years ago and took it out after 1 week. Can't comment on the ones with removable halo. Are they more in the Kirky style Rich?

I realize that my header was misleading. I'm ONLY interested in removable halos. There is positively no way I can get seats with fixed halos approved for the street. Question is if the halos will actually be a benefit me when I'm at the track or if they may make it more dangerous since I have no cage.

Over here all modifications are inherently illegal. It is only when one has obtained permission in advance that one can hope for the authorities to approve a modification. Even when the go ahead has been given ahead of time it is not uncommon for a mod to not be approved in the final checkover.

This is the seat in question:

Smart idea, but looks ugly as sin.

That's my only gripe with them. They are super comfy, but then they are the only fixed bucket seats I've ever sat in.
