I'm going to bring this thread back up because there have been several 951s sell on Bring a Trailer recently through the auctions. The low mileage clean examples have all been around the $30k mark.

Agree on the prices. You would think 4 high nice 951s would seem overkill in the past few months. But the excitement and enthusiasm for the cars seems to be if anything, climbing.

these are bargain supercars. GREAT cars are fewer and further apart and less are on the road every day.

Add in the fact the entire Porsche market is pulled higher by the rising tide syndrome occurring with not only 356 and longhood 911 movement, but factor in the fact there is an unsettled feeling about the newer Porsches coming out of Stuttgart. Turbo engines and smaller displacement cars are pushing the desirability on vintage 911 and any vintage models associated with very fast cars the maker built. Such as the 951.

These cars are limited supply, 'old school' factory built, track honed, and enthusiast proven on track and street. I expect values to continue a steady climb upward on the Very well preserved and low mileage examples.

Just picked up an "old school" car.
Will drive it this summer in Europe before its coming to Vancouver.
968 CS Clubsport with 030 option and super low km, 1 owner.
Paid big money when seen in relation to the US current market but if the car is right it will only appreciate.

All 99 of the 968s that came to North America with the M030 option are cool, but nowhere near as cool as a 951S. Slower, lacked M220 limited-slip by default, no real gains to be had through mods, lacking the iconic 80s silhouette of the 944, etc.

How many years ago?? Like air cooled 911s, 308s have been going up in value (as have actual 1988 Turbo "S"s) and I personally haven't seen a decent one(308) in the low $30s for a while

How hard is it to find an unmolested stock (never chipped) '87 or later 944 Turbo these days with less than 40k miles?

In a word? Very. They don't come around often. Especially these days, because prices have been rising and so people are sitting on the ones they do have.
