I too loved the sound of the M90 on my KL engine. It was not really noticeable unless I was on boost, then the tone that it emitted was something I really grew to enjoy. Never did a sound test on it, but was pretty sure from all my days working in the frequency domain, that the sound was the vane pass frequency of the lobes in the S/C. I wouldn't say mine was loud. If you find yours is too loud for you, I'm pretty sure you can cut it down by wrapping the area around the air filter with some open cell foam (i.e. put the air filter in a chamber the insides of which are wrapped with the foam). And, since it looks like your filter is down in the fender well, this should be fairly easy. Good luck and keep up the great work.

I rebuilt the snout on Friday night. the original coupling was toast, as was the front oil seal. I cleaned everything up really well and installed the new parts, blower is so nice and smooth now. I moved the K&N filter to a better location but I still ordered a drycharger cover for it. I read lots of bad stuff about wet K&N filters killing engines.

I also beefed up my SC mount by adding some nice gussets and I improved my lower rad mount.

Here's a short(terribly filmed) YouTube video of the noise:

Default you ever get the 944 supercharged?

[QUOTE=DarrenD;10777100]I know, I know, here we go again right? Another attempt at supercharging an N/A 944. "Buy a Turbo" some will say. "Drop in a V8" others will shout.

No.

I have owned my car for 3 years, previous to that my brother owned it for 9. I'm not getting rid of it. I have been working on it constantly and have madefantastic track car. It's light, corners like hell, and puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it.

But it can always be better, right?

I bought the Rogue Tuning N/A-Tune. I love it. Shortly after purchase I had heard you can use it with a supercharger up to 225 hp. I surely don't need more than that. 30-40 hp is all I need. here we go.

Fast forward a few months and I track down an Eaton M90 Blower. Joshua from Rogue suggests a set of 951 injectors. I buy some, new. I also picked up an MSD HVC 2 ignition coil and an AEM UEGO wideband O2 as well as an exhaust header.

This should be fun.

Let's make some room in the engine bay:

That will do.

Lets see if this blower thingy will fit?

Yep, it fits.

I almost feel like this blower is replacing the other 4 pistons and cylinder head from the 928's 5.0

I have a 1985 Porsche 944 NA, and I want to supercharge it But how? I would really like some help with all of this and i need the air filter to get air because on the other guys car i saw that it had the filter on the bottom but mine will have the euro bumper so any ideas, or suggestions you can point out to me? Than in advance!

Keep searching. I think no one has ever managed it and been happy long-term but there is always a first. It's only been 40 years.
On the upside there are reasonably priced standalone ECUs now.

Why has no one been happy long term any info on it?

Actually looks like the person who started this thread might be happy long-term with his, but it sounds like it's a race car (mostly) and is running VEMS.
My supercharged 968, the blower whine was annoying and I was always worried about engine damage due to the lack of an ECU that could manage boost based on knock and was better designed for a boosted application.

So what do you recommend I do? Should I stick with supercharge and get an ECU for it that's good or can I beef up the motor with bolt-ons? and could I change the blower or is that totally different? Also if you could tell me what VEMS is that would be great. Oh yeah could a turbocharger be cheaper and better for the motor?

You should look at the Rotrex superchargers then - really quiet and very efficient. Also, quite compact! I'm considering it for my 1983 NA 944.

I'm very happy with mine. It is mainly a track car but is still plated and does get street driven occasionally. I just converted to VEMS wasted spark recently so it runs even better. I broke the clutch at the last track day of the season so that will have to be repaired but I intend on running the car next year and hopefully converting to fully sequential fueling and maybe, just maybe, putting on a slightly smaller pulley for a pound or two of more boost. It took a boatload of work and time and a few bucks too but its such a cool car. I LOVE the blower whine.
