opportunity for purchase of engine from 88'944...
 

i have an opportunity to buy an engine from an 88'944s, 16 valve, 190hp, 160k km, including the dme computer and all engine components. compression was something like 175. all for $1200cnd. what do you boys think i should do??? should i buy??? give me your opinion..., i have an 84'944 that runs great, but if that engine would make such a difference....i just might.

It would be a lot of trouble for only 40hp. I don't think I would do it. It would be even more trouble since your '84 does not have all of the mounting points that the 85.5+ cars have.

if you have the funds and time to do the change over do it 1200cnd is pretty cheap up there, isnt it? as far as the fourty plus horses do you thing you can get that out of your present engine for that amount and as far as the mounting points they should be the same as your 84 you would have to get the header or exhaust manifold for the 16v engine.
