Engine Rebuild Parts List
Questions regarding rebuilding a 1987 944 n/a engine.
I have ordered the Head Gasket Set and Bottom end Gasket Set.
Have Crank/rod bearings and balance shaft bearings. As well as piston rings/rod bolts. Also have a tensioner kit and valve guides. Clutch is about 1 year old. Good Condition. Have new flywheel bolts and new oil pump bushing gear.
Here is what i think i may need....
Does the head gasket kit come with new valve stem seals?
Do i need to order a front end reseal kit as well?
Any exhaust gaskets needed?
Fuel injector seals?
Am i missing anything?
Thx.....

The fuel injector seals are separate. Head gasket kit cover exhaust and valve stem seals.
I would suggest new OEM head bolts. But this far I say you got it!
Good luck and someone else chime in if I'm wrong. I just rebuilt 2 n/a and my 951 engine and that sounds right

I needed new exhaust manifold bolts as part of my order. This is fairly common apparently.
I'd also suggest a new ignition set - coil, wires, rotor, cap, plugs.
You'll also want an OPRV alignment tool and a clutch alignment tool.
I also needed new cam tower bolts (2 of them stripped when removing so I just replaced the lot).
Additionally, my oil pan insert had failed and I replaced/updated that at the same time.

+1 on new ignition set. lR has a good deal on a full kit. I think around $140s?
Would also get the timing belt tool and the balance shaft pully tool even though you have an auto tensioner it's good to have tensioning the balance shafts. And if you are removing the oil pump male sure to have a tube on loctite 574 orange flange sealant or the same stuff but by Wurth

have the crank magnafluxed, trust me. Check the oil pickup tube for cracks. Have oil cooler flushed if you can. I had mine flushed on my last engine drop in the S2 and the guy said there was a ton of crap in there. You'll need the front engine reseal.

Little confused at to what parts are what here.
The 944 workshop manual shows parts number 23 and 24.
It appears that the parts manual only shows one of them. Which one is correct and if i need two bits....what are they? Thanks BTW.
