Default Hatch Top Trim Piece

I have had my rear hatch resealed by a professional who did an awesome job BTW, as well as replaced the Hatch Pin Seats on my car. Until I put my top trim piece back on everything was rattle/squeak free. This was the first time in a long time my car was so quiet on the inside. After I installed the top trim piece a few days later I started to have squeaks and some rattles once in a while. This has been very frustrating process.

The question: Could I use Windshield urethane to possibly hold this trim piece in place? I would like to take it off again, put a small bead of urethane on the frame/glass of the hatch and ratchet strap the trim piece on. Has anyone done this? Am I crazy?

Rear hatch issues seem to be a common problem with this model. I have the same issue with mine and will be researching repairs. do you have any before/after pics of the professionals final product?

Still curious if the cause of the noise was the seal letting go.

I talked with Larry at 20th Street Auto, Phoenix Porsche dismantler, about hatch delam and rebonding just last week. He told me they had tried a number of different methods and all had failed in a month or two. They had tied betaseal 418 and even the two part quick cure ureathanes. I am currently working on my latest retry of the hatch reseal - etching the glass and using betaseal 428.

The hatch is not letting go. It is still solid. The trim piece on the other hand doesn't fit correctly. It's because my hatch frame isn't 100%. I'm thinking the trim piece doesn't fit 100% so I should just glue it and be done.

Regardless of the fix you will have to pull the trim piece so no harm having a tube of urethane ready to glue it down.
