Default metal visor replacement clips

Hi all,
It's been a while since I've been here...
Do any of you remember a thread that was posted about someone who made replacement metal visor clips? I've searched the post but didn't come up with anything.....
Both of my visor clips cracked and I'm driving without sun visors now...

Travis from Rennbay ran a special on them a while back, that's where I got mine.

A direct link for those finding this later:

http://www.rennbay.com/sun-visor-cli...eck-p-178.html

Worth noting that these do not fit the early 944 perfectly. The visors on the early model have a smaller diameter support bracket that means these retaining clips fail to hold them in place.

You can make them work with some modification of your sun visors.

+1 on the rennbays, good pieces.

Fara, what year did the visors change?

I'm of the understanding that the visors changed with the interior update in mid-85.

Don't understand why you'd pay premium for full metal ones, way too costly IMO (nothing against rennbay or Joe Jackson(?) who produces them as well I think.

VW rabbit visor clips are exactly the same but with metal tabs, don't break... And cost literally a couple of bucks.

Part#s in this cross reference guide for our cars.

+2 on the rennbays.

Never tried the VW ones. But I am a serious DIY guy, and don't regret ordering the metal rennbays. Very nice quality and feel like it is a last time fix.

For comparison, Porsche OE are $5.57 each list price, $4.16 from a discount dealer (Hennessy, Sunset).

Roughly same price for VW ones all over eBay. They'll never break either.

It's just a matter of choice. I was running the VW ones, but when I redid the dash, headliner and trim in Alcantara, I thought going to the black metal ones was a nice cosmetic upgrade. I never really cared for how the VW ones looked, and getting the covers off them to get to the mounting screws was sometimes a PITA.
