Default chain pad tensioner, which to get, zims vs. vertexauto

So I'm about to order the replacement pads but wanted to find out which is the better one to get between the one at Zims ($118.95) or the Vertexauto ($109)?

With shipping or without? you might be surprised what the actual total would be.

I used the Zims pads, and they fit perfectly-nice and snug.

Watch those tiny washers on the j-tube like a hawk...they'll get away from you in in an instant. Also, plug the oil galleys on under the center of the exhaust cams...they have an appetite for tiny washers....or so someone told me. :ducking:

Make sure your j-tube is still there... Mine was blown away by age (stupid plastic tube), only the ends remained. Had to get the new metal j-tube to replace it.

I almost lost those J Tube washers down the oil galley because I assumed they were steel. I had my magnetic pick up tool below the bolt to catch the washer as it came out. Found out the hard way the washers are actually aluminum.

I've purchase my pads from the Porsche dealer just last week. With the PCA discount I paid under $100 including tax. I've purchased few other items from the dealer, like engine mounts and I paid $176 per mount, I feel they've been good to me.

Really? I didn't think the dealer sells just the pads, guess I was wrong.
Do you have a part number handy that I can reference?
Thanks.

Replacing the J-tube (which is all metal, unless there's a new design) is a good idea: time will fatigue the connection between its banjo ends and the pipe. I have not seen this fail on an 944S/2, but have seen many failures on 911 Carrera chain tensioners.

The original design on the "S" was a plastic tube, which was then superceeded by an S tube, which then became the metal J-tube.

My S had the original plastic style, and the plastic was long gone.

I tried searching for it on different sites and could not find it (Pelican, Paragon, DC, Vertex, Zims). Does anyone have a part number for the J-tube?
