Post AJUSA 930S Steering Wheel

Does anyone have any experience with this $300 steering wheel.... Has anyone installed it in their car?

The wheel is priced at a premium over comparable Momo wheels, so I'm curious if it is worth the extra $$$.

This steering wheel is a copy of the 930S wheel. It is supposed to be almost as good as the real thing (YMMV). With that said, it is less than the Momo Runner, which is $315 at Pelican Parts. I compare it to the Runner because they seem to be similar in design.

i have a momo and it took only 10 min to install. porsche have straight splines on the steering colum, so a puller is not necesary. all you need is a 15/16 in. socket.

You have to be VERY careful, those combo wrenches are tricky you have to turn it over then it becomes a 24mm otherwise its an ordinary 15/16, damn english

From a price standpoint, if you consider AJUSA 930 vs. Momo Runner, the 930 looks pretty good. The 930S comes with a hub adapter, the Momo does not.

Total cost on the 930 with Porsche crest will be around $330, while the Momo will clock in at over $400 (with hub adapter and Porsche wheel cap).

Tom Pultz went with the 930S factory wheel for his 944S2 after comparing it with the AJUSA copy...Go to his website and look under cosmetics...He cited one piece leather on the factory version while the copy is constructed of several pieces of leather...

Also the factory wheel has the crest embossed in the center of the wheel...I don't think the AJUSA wheel has any marking or crest...

Thanks Mike! That is great advice.

I love the look of the factory steering wheel in your post. You are right about the embossed crest. The AJUSA has a crest decal you can affix for an extra $30. But I like the more subtle factory look.

If it does not cost a second mortgage, that's the one I'm going for.

I bought the AJ USA unit, mine has a raised metal crest, very nice! Complete with hub adapter, etc. A very simple bolt in. The feel is great! Yes, it is comprised of three pieces of leather, but it is so well blended I cannot find fault with it. Happy New Year!

Appreciate the feedback Mike...You are the first person I have talked to who has one of the AJUSA wheels...I was thinking of recovering my original wheel but the aggravation factor makes the AJUSA wheel pretty attractive (especially at $300 with adaptor)...Although I really like the factory wheel...Decisons, decisions.

I wonder...Would you have a picture to share.

Here's one for ya.... what are the options for an airbag car? I would like a smaller, cleaner wheel, but do not want to lose my airbag in the event of an accident.

I think I saw a picture of a C4S wheel (perhaps it was in the RUF CT2R) that was small in dimention, and a very small airbag pad. I am not opposed to the size of the stock wheel, just the massive ared for the airbag.

According to the website, the factory steering wheel part number is 968-347-084-00-8YR. Retail price complete with hub is about $400 and may require a special order from Germany.

The only difference between this wheel and the one used on the 930 is the crest on the horn pad. The 930 wheel has a cloisonné crest and the 968 CS wheel has an embossed crest.
