Default WTF are These For?!?!

While replacing my ISV I noticed two connectors that don't seem to plug into anything. This one here was under the intake manifold next to the TPS and DME coolant temperature sensor connectors:

This one here is behind the fuel rail:

Also, where does this bracket go?

What year and model is your car? The one under the intake is probably for a knock sensor (if the car is a turbo). The one on the end of the valve cover is for a diagnostic tool the dealer had many moons ago.

Put it back. Porsche used a common harness for various models and options on the 944 series.
Look under your dash and count the number of empty plugs that go nowhere.

Next to the 3 prong plug (picture) by the rear cam housing there was an exhaust analyzer tube--do you still have it?

It's a 1988 base NA. Is that plug some super early form of the OBD II port?

Seems kind of lazy of them to use a common harness. The hole in the exhaust for the analyzer was capped off.

There is a spot reserved in hell for the person that designed this intake manifold

I thought the place in hell was for the people who designed the vacuum line mess under the intake manifold.

That too, but getting the intake manifold on/off is worse than that mess in my opinion.

Any thoughts on that bracket? I hate when I put stuff together and I have left over pieces

I'll go dig through my mountain of baggies tomorrow to see if I can find the same bracket, however mine is an early so it might not have it.

I have that same bracket and could not for the life of me figure out where it came from - it now resides in the bottom of a workbench drawer.

The bracket mounts to the front/top bolt location on the oil separator. It supports the wiring harness going to the front of the engine.

They look like knock sensor plugs to me.

The coolant temperature sensor connector is blue. The inside of this one was covered in dirt and slime so I don't think it was ever used.

The first plug is for the early Air Auxiliary Valve. On later cars it is left unplugged.

The second plug is a diagnostic port, as Van said.

And the bracket mounts to the AOS, just as Jwade described.

I hope that helps!
