Default clutch pedal travel?

I did a search but can't seem to find an answer. New 944 owner-1986. My clutch pedal has about 1 1/2-2 inches of total travel. is this normal? Seems really weird compared to my other manual cars. Pedal is just off the floor and pushes to the floor to release.

Not normal - it should be the same height as the brake pedal. Probably needs to be bled properly - try a search on that.

Agree with Van, sometimes master cylinder reservoir gets low and air can enter system. Also, if bleeding the slave doesn't help, check slave for signs of leakage while under there. They usually fail slowly and the pedal gets worse and worse till its on the floor with no pressure. Just happened to me 88 924S. Pedal got lower and lower(over a 2 month span), then saw signs on fluid on the floor in garage, then went to move it out of the garage, and the pedal when to floor and stayed there. I replaced both the master and the slave with decent aftermarket parts for about $160. Pretty easy job to do, pedal feels great.

Hi,

maybe the video is helpful:

If the problem is not the bleeding or the cylinders, check if the firewall is broken near the master cylinder. I have seen this several times!

Jürgen
