My speaker box project

Been toying off and on the past few weeks on a fiberglass box for the 968. I've gotten to the paint portion so for now it's just body fillered until later in the week when my B.S. can spray it for me.

Nice! That thing is big! What have you learned about optimizing the shape/size of the box?
What color(s)? |
it's actually a bit small for the type-R sub but the sound is really good better than I anticipated. Leaves plenty of room for the sunroof etc. Gonna paint it D3 iris blue to match the car. I'm planning on doing another for the 951 soon, gonna make a few small adjustments to the design. I kept all of my cardboard templates. I notched the bottom for the steel loop that sticks up. It's only a 10" but it cleans up the sound really well

A single sub makes such a great difference in a 944. I've noticed that even when I have my bass cranked up to ludicrous loud, it sounds crazy in the cab but doesn't carry out of the car, annoy people in parking lots, streets at night, etc.

This kinda brings back some memories from my highschool days when I was big into making sub boxes. I had a lot of fun with them.
I barely have a working headunit nowadays but if I could have an ideal setup it would definitely just be one simple 10" sub nicely hidden. This photo is circa 2004-2005 (homemade box, it was red at one point, and then eventually black. I wish I had a picture of it with the subs installed, they were bright red LOL) http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...100_0525-2.jpg |
That's a pretty wild looking setup there!

oh god
