924 / 944/ 968 Single Wiper Modification
I was surfing around the web the other day and saw this vid posted on youtube:
Is the youtube poster a member here? I like the mod although some might consider it irrelvant.
Looks as though someone accomplished a "944 single wiper mod" simply by using a 911 wiper arm. If anyone has a spare wiper arm and an hour on their hands it would be interesting to see how this would work out.
Here's a link to the youtube poster's comments: http://www.youtube.com/user/machteinfahrt
I did post this to an older thread from 2005 in the 951 / Turbo S Forum here:

As someone said it the thread you linked, the biggest problem is adjusting the sweep. The stock sweep for the center arm won't do it.
That wiper arm looks like a 996+ unit, because of how long it is. It might be a 993 unit but I doubt it.
I don't see why you couldn't use the stock arm. Or maybe the blade is offset, its not perpendicular to the sweep? I don't remember.
Take care!

someone in germany modified the stock arm http://www.944er.com/einarmwischer.htm
Personally i prefer function over form and in this case i don't even like how it looks . Stock wipers work very well , i wouldn't mess with them.

that would be my car in the youtube video i still need to make a slight adjustment to the hole location in the linkage and find a good used wiper motor. i can measure the hole location and post the spec's that it currently has, it is slightly off from where i want it though. you just have to punch out the ball pin, drill a .288" hole ( i think that is the correct size, it's been a while), weld it in place, and bend the long arm linkage so it doesnt bind up the motor.

got my noisy wiper motor changed out recently and made a quick measurement of the current linkage specs. i will be increasing the centerline distance to 1.400" when i get the time, this should give a little less wiper arm travel, which would be ideal. also, when making this modification you have to adjust the long linkage arm that connects the swivel brackets. i would suggest attaching it and operating the linkage by hand, bending/adjusting the linkage arm accordingly till it operates freely, because the overall throw will be different.

Just an update for anyone interested in this mod, the dimension I have listed in the picture as 1.300" NEEDS TO BE 1.500" and this is for the wiper arm side swing bracket, NOT THE MOTOR SIDE. That is how I have it now and it produces the perfect amount of wiper sweep. The single wiper mod works great in the normal and heavy rain that we get, and this is in my dd.
