Default drive with lose axle nut? bad idea?

Question to pose. Evidently torque wrenches that reach 350 ft/lbs are not exactly cheap and neither are multipliers. I was thinking of tightening my axle nuts a little beyond 150 ft. lbs. because that's the limit of my torque wrench and I don't want to over crank it. Then I'll drive 2 miles to the nearest shop and have them crank it the rest of the way. Its a straight shot, i can go 20mph the whole way, and there are no people (its North Dakota). How dumb is this?

How much do you weigh?

Divide that number from 350, and whatever that number is in feet, put a piece of pipe that long on a breaker bar, and stand on the end of it.

350 ft-lbs is right at the limit for a 1/2" flex breaker bar. A 3/4" drive breaker bar and 3/4" drive socket Should be used. My Craftsman 3/4 T-bar breaker is 18" long, so only a snall cheater would be needed.

Personally I'd drive to the shop and get it done right.

I'm guessing that's what they did before torque wrenches were invented.

it'll be fine.

the drive will develop a terrible shimmy if anything loosens up.
