Angry Twisted off the head of my coolant bleed screw.

Title says it all. I just snapped off the head of my bleed screw, leaving me with the wonderful task of getting the rest of it out, and in need of a new one.

Anyone have a bleed screw they'd like to sell me? I'll order one from 944online if I have to, but it just takes so long for them to ship out!

Sigh.

I would try an easy out tool where you drill, the insert the tool and it grabs in reverse to remove the rest.

That happened to me. I was able to tap a small screwdriver into it and spin it out that way.

I was afraid it would happen to me the other day too...with the constant loosening and tightening while it's hot...I think I will get a new one for the next time I have to bleed the system. So thanks for posting this OP! I hope you get it out without too much hassle.

I just screwed the old one in and installed a new one. I didn't plan it that way, but when I applied pressure with a screwdriver it popped into the radiator before I had chance to turn it. It won't hurt anything because it will be trapped on that side of the radiator. I bet you can get from your local parts store.

Well, the one the OP is talking about can't be found in a hardware store. It has a hole drilled down the middle and then out the side. It should be easy to remove the broken off piece. There's no tension on it.

BUT, if you don't want to wait for the right part to come in, you can get the right size bolt from the hardware store and use that in the meantime. I forget the specs except it is 1.0mm thread pitch. It will be a little tough to bleed without the hole, but it can be done. I did it!

I went ahead and ordered one from 944online, and it shipped today. So I retract my previous statement about shipping times. Last time must have been a fluke.

Its amazing how easy it was to twist off.

My Land Rovering brothers suggestion was "Yeah that happened to me. Fill it with JB weld."
