Default aos seal test

I noticed on a 996 forum that with the engine idling, if you try to remove the oil cap on the AOS and can't, the AOS has failed. Is there a test to see if the AOS tank (big round cap below the oil filler cap) seals are leaking? One comment in the 944 forum inferred that a leaky seal there could cause lean mixture. My engine still stumbles a bit under WOT after all my efforts in other areas, i.e., ignition, vacuum, throttle body seals, injectors, air cleaner, fuel filter, etc. I may be grasping at straws here, and I must admit that I haven't tackled the fuel test/delivery issue yet, but will soon. I need to use nearly all the gas and then jack up the passenger side to pull the pump and strainer without getting gasoline all over the place. I haven't replaced the oil filler cap seal but it seems clean and tight.
