Default Update 6

Finally, another update on my conversion! The car has been moved to my partner's garage (Dark Horse Garage LLC) where he and I will be doing the engine and tranny swap. The tranny (AOT) came from '91 S2 and it is being refreshed - the LSD plates were worn out and the lock was out of spec. The engine bottom end was refreshed as well - rod bearings replaced, front and back crack seals replaced, crank scraper installed along with new oil pan gasket and some cosmetic mods along the way. The belts and sprockets were replaced and the cam timing was redone as well. Next will be the cam shaft cover and the torque tube rebuilt.
Once all major components are done the swap will begin and should go much faster. Additionally, I picked up a set of nice wheels wrapped with Hoosiers to match the new power and torque that the car will have.

like we've said a hundred times.... change your rotors often

at least every 30 k miles. they fail and take out the caps.

caps will go over 100 k miles.

Default The last UPDATE of the build!

Finally, found some time to follow up on this thread and lay out the final results as of 10/14/2014!

The refreshed engine, rebuilt torque tube and refreshed transmission were installed in about 16 hours straight with the goal to have the car ready for a track event....well, it did not work out as planned.
The car was running at 01:30 in the morning on 11/03/2013 but had some overheating issues and I did not take it to the track. It was the wiser choice after all.

Huge thanks to my dear friend Jay from Dark Horse Motorsport who hosted the conversion and did a tremendous amount of specialized and fabrication work to get this project completed.

Some pics and videos of the final stages of the project and its latest status.

The last minutes of the solid 2.5L 8V engine in the car.

Ready for carnage.

The new power plant with custom ceramic coated headers.

It fits!

The new drive train replacement - AOT Transmission from S2

The upgraded S2 LSD transmission.

The latest upgrade - Tarrett Engineering Sway Bars and Koni Coilovers.

It is alive!

Custom straight exhaust from the header back. It was just fabricated and installed. I recommend watching the video on a device with good speakers/headphones.

I cant get my S2 engine to start after the swap. I swapped the front harness for the coil and igniter as well as the engine harness and ECU. What did you do with the wiring to get it started? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
