Default Late 944 Strut Rebuild

I have some 87 Struts that I would like to rebuild. Is there an option besides the koni hacksaw method?
Thanks

I'm gearing up to do this myself right now. As far as I know the only options are buying the koni inserts that require the modification or buying the whole thing. Not too sure about that, I'd love some answers too.

You say it like it's a bad thing. The koni hacksaw method is the only way and those inserts were designed by Koni to fit into struts that didn't have a top screw cap. They have been tired, tested and proven many times and perform very well. If you do not want to do the mod yourself (it's easy and well documented), some of the vendors selling the inserts will do it for you at a very reasonable cost.

I'm looking for a cheaper method until I can afford the Konis. I just got these from the junkyard, the car had 144,000 on it so I assume they are bad.
