Default Fix a leaky power steering system

Who here doesn't have any powersteering leaks? Mine doesn't leak enough to make the reservoir go down at all. I do see that some fluid is leaking out. What does it take to get this stuff to not leak. I think my lines might be a culprit as well as my steering rack. I have noticed that one of my steering rack boot is completely torn and busted. Can that cause any issues?

What have you found to be the biggest culprit? What did you do about? Is rebuilding these racks a good idea or is it better to just buy a reman'd rack?

Mine doesn't....but that is because I just replaced the pump, rack and every related hose......if you replace the pump you will need to change the rack (or rebuild it with new seals) and all of the hoses as a new pump will be putting out a dramtically higher amount of pressure and the orginal 25 year old one.....if you don't....the orginal hoses will leak like a sive.........ask me how I know.

Here is a link to where I got all of my parts from....best prices around and also really knowledgeable parts people... http://www.allzim.com/acatalog/index.html

PS leaks are pretty damn easy to fix on these cars. You can cut off some of the old rubber lines and replace with new hose with hose clamps. The return line up top is the tricky one (back to the reservoir) because it steps up a size and does a 90 degree....but even that can be put together fairly easily if you don't want to replace the entire cooling loop line. Rebuild the PS pump with a new seal kit, replace the feed line from the res to the pump.

For a rack, Autozone 189.99, full lifetime warranty. Sure they are painted black, but they work.

I bought all brand new hoses from Paragon, and a rack from Zims. Original pump.

Have you replaced the hoses before with stuff from a parts store? That rack is pretty cheap way cheaper than Zims. Is it a quality rebuild?

I found one of the biggest PS leaks on my car was the fitting on top of the pump that where the hose goes from the reservoir to the pump. I'll be buying a new fitting and seal from Pelican and putting on new hose clamps on both sides of the hose and the return side of the reservoir. Hopefully this will help, I guess we'll see.
