Default My New XSChop Custom Struts

As many of us know the 1986 and newer 944's had the sealed units that either used koni cut a strut inserts or had to be shipped off for rebuilding. Well a few months ago XSChop had some custom struts for sale that he had modified to allow the use of inserts like the early 944 setups and I gladly purchased these from him and have now installed them on my 1986 944 Turbo.

I must say it is a huge improvement having a new set of struts but also XSChop also provided these with excellent features at a reasonable price.

The struts came with all new strut top mounts (rubber), strut bearings, custom clearanced billet spring hats, Acme-threaded 5" coilover sleeves, Brand new 12" 300 LB springs (2.5" I.D.) New KYB GR2 strut inserts and new Polyurethane bump-stops.. I must say it was one of the best purchases I have made on this car.

I have them installed and will be posting more pics in the morning.

Thanks for the wisdom I will take it to heart. Right now the car sits a tad taller than factory, in the morning I plan on lowering it just a little but not much just to make it stock height or right under. Knowing my luck I'll hit a house rat (yorkie terrier) and break something lol.

I like this idea. Would it be possible to use bilstien inserts in these custom strut housings? I like how it is a complete package. Does he have lower spring rates by chance? I don't need the height adjustability, but if the cost is the same as it not being adjustable then why not. Did he advertise these?

Yes he did advertise these a few months ago, these were listed at a very reasonably low price originally. When I was talking to him he seemed like he made this set to kind of test the waters but sounded like he was planning on making more. Honestly for the price it wasn't much more than doing the cut a strut method with the koni inserts. I don't wish to list the price out of respect for him since he made these and it sounded like a possible vender solution.

As far as I'm aware the Blisten and Kyb inserts work.
