Hollow spoke worth?
How much is a set of 2 hollow spoke turbo twist 18x8 50mm offset (993 I think?) wheels worth, with decent amount of curb rash?
|
Not much. I'll give you $100 + shipping for both :)
|
I sense you're on to me...
Or maybe I'm just crazy. I've seen full sets of solid spokes go for $500+, aren't hollows more desirable? |
The problem is that it's only 2 and they are not in good shape.

off topic but, did you remove your signature? I thought I just saw a signature in another thread about your sun visors...

When I'm on mobile which I am now, it doesn't show my sig.

I have two complete sets of 18 hollow spoke track wheels for sale... If anyone is interested. That would be four 8" wide and four 10" wide. From a narrow body 993 which is perfect on late offset 944s.

Butters: Having bought wheels with curb rash requiring refinishing I'll say this; It's not worth the cheap buy-in. Unless someone is looking at these wheels for a track car, they're of limited use to someone wanting street wheels.
|
This is what I'm looking at it. Guess I'm leaning against it then.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320825291541?redirect=mobile Van: I just want a set of twists. I doubt I can afford one of your sets though... And I'd actually prefer 17" over 18", I just was thinking the one in that link was a really good deal. |
And van, a set of 8" wide all around would be ideal in my mind.
|
Those ebay wheels are 996 wheels. And, they're actually not the hollow spoke version. In the picture from the back side, you can see the open casting areas in the spokes.
The back of hollow spokes should look like this: http://www.ephotomotion.com/wheels/t...front size.jpg |
Rly? Thanks for saving my money. And how much $$ could I get a decent set of twists for? I've seen all ranges onlins
|
Butters, don't forget to add in the price of spacers and studs into the price.

Just so we're all on the same page:
993 Twists http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...els10x18-1.jpg 996 Turbo Twists http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1243917808.jpg 993 Turbo Twists were available for both wide and narrow body cars. To my knowledge, the factory 996 version only came in 11" rears. I am running 996 Turbo Twist II's on my late offset car, I needed to use a 7mm spacer in front to clear the grease cap with the center cap and I bought replica 18x10 et65 wheels for the back. And yes, the knockoffs are heavy, although the factory wheels, even hollow spokes, aren't exactly light. The 11" rear will fit on an early offset car with a spacer but will not on a late offset car. Here's a pic of them on my car: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-s...1000000172.jpg |
