Default Where to find wipers that work?

Put new wipers (Michelin) on the 944 a month ago, finally needed them today. While driving along the passenger side wiper came loose from the wiper arm. Reattached it and went on my way, it happened again so I decided to go get another set of wipers.

New wipers are BOSCH Excel but they still come loose fairly easily - it turns out that none of the wipers carried in the store (O'Reilly) have the little plastic "nipple" that hooks onto the wiper arm. Needless to say, that is dumb on the part of the wiper manufacturers.

Porsche dealer wants $31 per side for the proper blade - told the parts guy to kindly go f*** himself with some stupid gadget from Porsche Design.

Where can I find the right wipers? Supposed to be raining most of this week.

I tried many of the aftermarket ones including Bosch, which I think were oem, none of them worked or fitted as well as factory. I ordered factory from Sunset a while ago, paid like $20 each and one of them came with the spoiler attached. I ended up changing the arms at the same time and that made a huge difference, the old springs must have very worn and ineffective. Good news with new wipers is you can just change the rubber inserts if they wear again and not need to worry about the actual wiper for a few years.

I'd also be interested to find a good aftermarket wiper and a replacement spring for the arm would be a good find also. GL

I get wipers from Sunset... there are just some things that shouldn't be skimped on.

Thing is, I would get the Bosch or whatever from Kragen every time since I've owned the car and they always had the little nipple to engage. This is the first time that I've had wipers without.

Problem with that would be I'd be out another $10,000, plus have a car that's at least 400lbs heavier than my current one, doesn't look as good, and that is exponentially more expensive to maintain. The money saved by not owning a 968 would allow me to almost afford a girl like in your picture.

Do yours have the little nipple? Got a part number?

I can't remember the name of them, but they are the expensive bosch blades from autozone (The ones you can twist up like a pretzel, and they spring back to shape).

I've had them on my car for nearly 4 years, and even after baking in the Vegas sun, they work like new (Its raining here right now...). No streaks, no smears.

The pair cost (IIRC) ~$40, but that is obviously money well spent.

expensive to maintain ? after driving it 75 k miles on pennies, my car must be due for some seriously major repairs ! yap, waiting for the guillotine to drop any day now. plus you know i don't really give a **** if the engine blows, which, unfortunately won't happen until hell freezes over.

i love the zyclamrot though. that's seriously horny. is that an '81 ?

I'm assuming this is an early-car problem considering that Odurandina and I don't seem to have problems with this?

It is true that the wiper arms changed between early and late but IIRC the late cars use the same type of clip...maybe my store just doesn't have them...

I'm running generic rubbish from the local auto store.
No problems so far on an '83 ROW.

I've found that Bosch and Michelin are junk, and Trico is the only way to go.
And good luck finding refills anymore. Since everyone went to their fancy blades, no store has the shelf space to stock the refills, so most of them have dropped them.
