Default which tires should I get?

I replaced all 4 tires 5 years ago with toyo proxes tpt and now my rears are bald but the fronts still have decent amount of thread.

so i'm thinking of just replacing the rears. not sure if this is a bad idea. my car is an 85.5 with 15 inch fuchs.

tires size is 215/60r15 however I think my fronts are 205/60r15.

anyways locally in 215/60r15 I can't find many tires.

I have found the following.

yokohama avid h4s about 300 bucks installed for 2 tires.

falken ziex 912 254 installed 2 tires.

fuzion hri 264 installed 2 tires.

my fronts which I want to keep are touring all season tires proxes tpt and have a pretty soft sidewall I think.

which one of these would be best for my rears? I heard the falkens are crap.

I want something good in the rain as my car likes to hydroplane.

depends. any go-fast stuff on the car? can't say i'm much of a fan of 19" wheels, but have you seen the new 19" fuchs on display at the dealers? they're horny and i'm sure your tire choices expand exponentially with their latest creation.

should I replace all 4 even though the fronts have a lot of thread left?

i'm worried about how it will handle with 2 different brand tires in the rear.

also how are the proxes in the rain/ light snow?

every tires I look up online there are some good reviews but also a ton of negative.

i've read a lot of reviews saying the falken 912 are garbage and others say they are good for the price.

they are very cheap I can get 2 falkens installed for $256 locally.

my car is an n/a and it's stock and I don't race or autox but I drive it pretty hard at times. also I drive it year round and sometimes we get light snow here and lots of rain.

Unless you switch to 16" -17" & buy the Falken 452 . I would not recomand the Falken 912 for your car, they migth be bougth at a good price but they really not the tires to have on your 944 when spirit driving.Instead why don't you look at the KUMHO line & see what's available in the 15".BTW Allan (OD) is not talking about your Fuchs but the new 19" that are now available.www.kumhotire.com

Yes..

1) most tire makers recommend using tires for only 6 years from manufacturer. As such, your 5 year old fronts are done from a "time" perspective

2) Mixing treads and compounds is not ideal and could lead to awkward handling characteristics.

3) For a base car, with either 7x15 all around or even 7x15 front and 8x15 rear, I would recommend a 215-60-15 for ALL 4 corners. No need to run a staggered set up (ie, 205 front, 215 rear). If in fact the wheels are the same size front/rear, be sure to ROTATE the new tires to even out wear over thier lifetime.

I have some Fuzion Zris on my car currently (in 17") but think the brand is quite acceptable and reasonably priced that trying the other one (Hri?) would be fine.

After my PO-installed Dunlop SP Sport A2 Plus (215/60/15) are done, I plan on going back to Kumho..
Loved them on last 3 vehicles for the price..

These current Dunlops stick well, are very good in hard rain but resonate loudly... despite balancing/rotating.

Going with Ecsta LX Platinum KU27... in 30,000 miles from now.

I gave up on 15's except for my winter tires, there are so many more choices in 16". That said if you were to make the switch watch the wheel weight, moving from 15x6 phones to 16x7 d90's really hurt the top end punch of my 924s. Should have got cup 1's or something lighter.

I would replace all 4 tires since the others are so old, you'll enjoy having 4 even tires and the car will be much more predictable when your pushing it.

I don't drive too far and only really drive in the city so i'd like to save money by just switching out the rear for now I think.

I know it sucks being limited to the 15 inch tires but I don't want to switch wheels.

i'm thinking of ordering tires from tiretrack.com so I can have more options than what is available locally.

if the price is right I might just order 4.

I don't needs something with crazy high performance but i'd likes something that is good in the rain. I have hydroplaned on the freeway a few times with my proxes (when they were still fairly new) and it was scarey. I was only going about 80-90 km/h and i'd start hydroplaning.

I won't be really driving the car too hard. when it rains I take it easy and drive extra cautious. I've heard the falken 912 are good in the rain. and the price is pretty tempting I can get 4 installed for $500 including taxes/ balancing, levy.

i've just heard that they wear out really fast. I don't want to replace them after a year.
