Took this pic today of brand new pads.....The Wilwoods are a contender for pad size although slightly smaller in pad area

That's hotness for sure! I love this custom made stuff. I got my wheels to fit over my gigantor calipers and rotors

If someone local has 16" Phonies, I can do a quick test fit. The Wilwoods have a lower profile than the Turbo calipers. Curious minds want to know.

doabarrelroll, are your new calipers the same as those off of a 1988-89 944 Turbo S? I see that you are doing a 944S -> 944 Turbo S it would only fit if they were. I must say they do look familiar.

The 928 calipers also also went from 36+42 piston to 36+44 pistons in '88. Do you have a pic of the adapter?

You're in OKC right? I'm not exactly local but next time I'm down that way, I'd let you test fit and see if the club sport wheels fit.

They are bigger by about 20mm and can hold a much bigger rotor. They come from the 993TT or the 928 GTS.

Default what options for 944N/A '86

can anyone tell me what options i have to change to larger rotors for my NA model year '86 on the front without swapping spindles ?
The only option i know so far is the front rotor of the 911 Carrera ('84-89'). But this is only thicker (24 instead of 20,5mm), same diameter 282,5 and same offset 35mm.

Ist there more ?

VCI makes a kit that works on the 86. The hub is machined to take a hat that adds about 3/8" to the offset.

I have an extra set of machined 86 front hubs, spindles, hats and used rotors because I upgraded to 87 spindles.

doug, thanks for that hint. probably i am wrong but what i see at VCIs page is a turbo upgrade. The mounting of rotors is completely different than the N/A rotor mountig.

The turbo rotor also mounted to the back of the hub. The person to ask (other than VCI) is George B. at the Porsche club. He knows EVERYTHING 944.

At this point why not go 944turbo brakes? parts are cheap, no?

Avoid an 86 turbo hub, run from one that someone has machined or modified.
