Default where do I find manufacture date my 944?

I saw from some threads on Pelican that the dme with 28 pins vs 24 pins on previous cars began late in '87. How do I find the manufacture date on my '87 944 N/A? Does anyone know about when the 28 pin dme actually was introduced?

Not sure of the actual cut in point, but my late year produced 87 Turbo has a 24 pin, and my 88 NA is 28... I can verify the build dates later if you would like... look at the manufacturers data sticker in the drivers door jamb.. it should indicate date of manufacture in month and year...

Somebody took the sticker off at some point in it's history. I still have the original shipment delivery sticker. Lots of codes and stuff but no date there either. I checked with AutoAtlanta and their VIN

PART 2: the VIN scan came up with very little info. Somehow the info evades me. I'll keep looking.

Whattaguy! It's WP0AB0941HN474073. After a little more digging I found out from the guys at Vertex Auto (great 944 parts retailer) that if your DME's last three numbers end in "086" then you have the 28 pin DME. They just had to put that darn thing in a place you have to be a contortionist to get to. I'll wait to hear what you're able to find out since someone took the original sticker off.

There should also be a second VIN/Build tag panel next to the fuse box under the hood (theres one there on my '87). IIRC, there should also be a date there as well.

It could also be (but not sure) on the Option sticker in the rear hatch/spare tire area.

Default IIRC?

The tag next to the fuse box is partially missing (of course) and the data tag by the spare wheel doesn't have anything I can decifer. What's an IIRC?

IIRC = If I Recall Correctly

Sounds like someone didn't want the VIN to stay on that car of yours

Nope, I checked all the other places and it's the right car. The door sticker disappeared from a body shop repaint and the one near the fuse box ...who knows. some of it is there.

Every non S2 944 was built under contract at Quattro GmBh in Neckarsaulm, Germany at the facility Audi now uses to produce it's RS4, RS6 and the R8 V8 and V10. Pretty badass factory if you ask me.
