Default Need Help. Power Steering/Alternator Belt Removal

Hey guys driving my 951 tonight my Alternator belt decided to commit suicide... I can't blame him I drive like a bat outta hell until I hit the speed limit.

I was wondering how do you remove the Power steering belt? Any tips on removing the Aternator belt as well? I didn't see the process on Clarks to remove the P-belt.

Thanks!

on the bottom of the engine are two rods that have eyebolts at each end. loosen the nuts that hold them locked in place and twist the rods to shorten them, this takes the tension off the belts. one rod is for PS, the other rod is for ac/alt

Just remember on the those rods one side is right hand thread (normal) and the other is left hand thread (not normal). So if you don't figure that you will be tightening that side rather than loosening it.

I never remember which way they go so I used bolt to help match up the threads to make sure I am turning them the right way.

once the dajusters are off, take them apart and lube them with anti-sieze. This will save a headache someday....

Any one know the Dayco part number for the belt? I got a 5060390, its really tight, I should be able to get it on barely, I have the compressor pushed as far as it will go and the belt will be on tight if I can get it over the last little bit.

I'd go up one size and use the adjuster to take up the slack. You might end up over tightening the belt and snapping it again.

once i got the belt on i there was a reasonable amount of slack, getting over the lip on one of the pulley's made it tight... if I can get the adjuster to shorten enough I'll use the belt, if I can't then I'll get another one that's a little larger.
