Default Need Help with my 951

Hey guys, Im having a bit of a problem with my 1986 951, IT wont stay running, WHen I give it gas sometime it will rev, sometimes its stalls right out. If I get it to drive, It will do ok But sometime cut right out, Also doesnt pull as hard. Ive replaced all the vac lines, Replace cap, rotor, wires,Everything was running fine till bout 2 months ago this started. I was looking at it today cuz I finally had some free time. I think I have a bad Diverter valve, I can suck air in threw the vac line to the diverter which I believe isnt whats suppose to happen. My question is can a blown DIverter valve cause this kinda running problem??? Thanks ALOT for the help.

The diverter valve is not helping things, but it won't kill the engine. I would look for a either a very big vacuum leak, or something that is loose or unplugged. Look at the reference sensors, and the AFM plug. Maybe look at the TPS as well. Have you tried to do blink codes yet?

+1 on the AFM.

Sounds exactly like a problem I was experiencing on my '89 944. Turned out it wasn't actually the AFM, but a bad wiring patch job near the plug, courtesy of PO. Same effect: bad/intermittent signal to the DME.

Good luck!

http://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Parts/BLINKCODE.html

Look at that for how to check the blink codes.

I did this to mine before I bit the bullet and pulled it all and went with the Vitesse MAF setup. Fixed a few problems, for sure.

Chech vacuum hoses. Not sure if you included those in vacuum lines.
