Question Inexpensive steering wheel suggestions

Hey everybody -

I'm interested in seeing what you guys recommend for a nice steering wheel, but not an expensive wheel. And how does the size of my standard Porsche (four-spoke with rectangle horn button) wheel compare with replacement wheels? Non-airbag. I'm assuming all require a hub.

TIA

Goody (new and proud member)

I just asked this a few days ago .

I tried a 300mm wheel and couldn't see anything above like 20mph or 1500rpm.
I found out that the factory wheel is 380mm, and the factory "sport" wheel (seen on the 968CS, 930S, etc.) is 360mm. Most aftermarket wheels are 350mm however, which SHOULD be enough.
I have a 360mm wheel on order right now, so when it gets in I could give you an update on how it works.

As for price, eBay actually had some decent prices. For the pricier wheels there's some place in australia that has them cheeper (even after shipping).

Probably the best wheel to get though is the 968CS or 930S wheel, but those can be pricy ($300-$500 range).

Dang, my bad <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" /> - I always try and search posts first...it's the IT guy in me. Fired this one off without even looking first.

It's funny they say the 85.5 and newer cars have a better positioned (or smaller, can't remember) wheel - and I think mine is still too big/sits a little too low. I'd probably prefer something a little smaller.

Let me know, and thanks!

Pelican Parts sells that same wheel for less than that....or one that looks just like it. Theirs is more like $250. No experience buying from them, but I was considering that wheel and they had it for much less.

I really want a 968CS wheel though...but I really want one in Burgundy. Anybody seen one??? If I have to get one in black to save $150-200 I'll do it, because I don't think I'm going to spend $500 on a steering wheel....that is a bit much...

Cheers!

I bought this Grant GT wheel for around $70 from Carparts.com. The carbon fiber part comes off and it looks alot like a Momo wheel. I kinda switch between leaving it on and taking it off. It's a nice wheel but it does block your view of the temp and volts gauge slightly.

I have a Grant steering wheel. Smaller diameter than the oem wheel, but I like it. Just wish it had a porsche center cap. But it is inexpensive. You can get them for less than 100 with the adapter. Try you local auto parts stores. May have to special order the adapter.

It's 13 1/2" in diameter. The price has gone up a little since I bought it. It's now $98.00 and the hub kit is $15.71. This place sells all models of Grant wheels at real good prices. Here is a link:

Do you guys have similar suggestions on shifter *****? Yeah, inexpensive. And how do they fit the flat shifter?

I'll search the posts, but any experiences will be very helpful..
