Default Where can I find a maintenance schedule for 89 944 S2?

I have the original owner's manual, but it does not include any type of maintenance schedule. I know the basic stuff, e.g. oil, filter, etc., but I also understand that these cars tend to be a bit more tempermental causing me to believe that regular maintenance and inspection of several items is probably warranted. Thanks.

I have a '91 S2 and I don't believe the 3.0liter cars are tempermental at all.

Make sure you do the timimg belt, chain tensioner (and/or tensioner pads) and possibly the chain.

Other than that, it's pretty much regular care.....it's a pretty solid motor.

depending upon milage, past up-keep, etc there will be other stuff....water pumps go....temp and oil pressure sensors get old and read funny things...wires and connectors can become brittle...etc.

overall I think the S2 (as well as the 968) is probably the more reliable of the 944 series

Like Joe said there is nothing tempermantal about an S2 or 968, preventive & regular maintenance will keep the car alive for quiete a while. (timing belt -balance shafts belt -rollers & maybe seals every 35 t0 40k miles or 4 years___tensioner-pads & (chaine check for abnormal play approx at 80 to 90k miles) the pads are the weak link on those car ,it get brittle with ages & has a tendency to break resulting & expensive damage to the head.I would drop the oil in the (tranny -diff every 100kmiles or couple of years).Very important is to check all your gas line specialy the one in the engine bay (for any leaks or cracks),power steering -wheels bearings (rear & front - for play ) shifter linkage should also be check as part of you regular maintenance. As we all know cooling circulation on those cars is very important so I sugest that every couple of years you take the habit of changing the anti -freeze replacing it with a good quality 50/50 mixe.I could go on & on but it all come down to common sense the more preventing maintenance you'll do the longer your S2 is gone to last. Sending you pics (tensioner -pads & chain). The white plastic pad is what we are talking about.Second one is the pad kit.

I've got an 89 S2 with 185000miles, and it's still going strong, as already pointed out, it's all about preventative maintenance, and regular inspections. Great cars, and they are as reliable as your preventative maintenance.
