Question radiator hose continually blows off water pump?

This thing has become a nemesis. No matter how tight I tighten the clamp at some point on a hot day the hose has come off the water pump and leaks coolant.

I have replaced the clamp with a regular stainless steel screw type clamp, but still happens. I have also replaced water pumps and thermostats with same result.

How tight should I tighten this clamp? Or is some other possible cause?

Does the car run hot? If your radiator is plugged, it will increase the pressure in that hose.

What year and model? N/A, Turbo, S2?
Is it running hot? Which hose? Is there oil in the coolant? You say that you have replaced water pump(s) and thermostat(s). On this car? You should not have to tighten a clamp so tight that it squeezes through the slots on clamp. You may have a lot of air in the system.

I had a similar problem with my 88 944 n/a, but it only happened once. The radiator hose blew, and I got a new one and fixed roadside. The new hose came off a couple of weeks later at the top. The hose clamp was loose, so I put it back on, this time in the garage. When the hose looked straight from the top, it was cocked at the bottom. I put it in from the bottom with a friend on top making sure it was on straight and the problem has not come back.

Good luck.
