Question Power steering hose

I need a power steering hose that goes from the reservoir to the pump. Will an audi or vw hose fit?

This is an updated piece direct from Porsche. Just get the new OEM one from the dealer. Its not all that expensive, and a lot less trouble than trying to make something else fit.

Isn't the one from the reservoir to the pump just a standard hose, nothing special about it? That hose is not under pressure and doesn't have the flare like the other hose if i remember correctly. I may have my hoses reversed but i know one of them is not under pressure and can easily be replaced with one from the auto parts store.

I'm thinking that the top end was larger. Like Travis said, it shouldn't be too bad from the dealer. Also, the routing of this formed, fitted hose is a little iffy, standard hose may rub the water pump or the belts and end up getting cut. Better off with the real deal. Check Paragon Products.

I agree with travis, I tried to use a "regular hose" but it did not work. I think I paid around 19.00 for it.... On ebay.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I think it's around 45.00 in canada and would probably work out to around that or more if purchased from U.S. after the exchange, shipping fees are factored in.

The one from the resrvoir is wider at the reservoir end and is formed to fit around the coil, etc. and also has a banjo fitting for the pump end.

I replaced the hose from the cooler (near the headlight) to the resevoir with a piece of high pressure oil hose. Been fine for a few years. Any other hoses I'd get the correct part.

Yes, you're right on. The hose isn't standard, nor is the banjo fitting or the bolt that secures it to the pump. I tried getting a hose and fitting made up here at an industrial supply house but all their standard type banjo fittings and bolts were different than the one used for the Porsche application.

Whats the deal with posts like this lately. I have been seeing it more and more.

It is almost completely unrelated (different hose), which is fine in itself but it brings up a post from 5+ years ago?

I blame the search button. Having the quick search bring up posts by relevance rather than date order is just dumb.
