Default 944S2 fuel economy !

Just had to share this...

I just drove my '91 944S2 (has 150.000km on it) way from my home in Iceland to the capital city of Iceland. The way is 450km long and it took 3hours and 30minutes. I filled up the car before I left and filled it again when I had arriwed at the destination. It had used 36liters !!

It maybe not much for drifing on a straight road... but Icelandic country roads! Endless braking and accelerating ( we have alot of sheeps at our roads, all running across these roads). I'm amazed! I have a Hyundai Accent work car and it uses more fuel for driving ALOT slower. Awesome motor... 19 years old.

That's 29.4 mpg for us Yanks, not bad for twisty roads. How's that volcano doing!?

I am constantly amazed at my S2's fuel sipping ways !

I routinely get over 26mpg on the highway and that's cruising at 75mph.

I also love going to the track...spending the day and finding out that I burned 1/2 a tank of fuel while my friends in their 911 variants are occasionally running out at lunch to refuel !

Just finished a 1000 mile road trip for the holiday and got 28 mpg driving 2 lane roads @ 60 mph. Through green mountain and white mountain national forests in northern new England. Definitely wasn't taking it easy either. Just got home and parked her with exactly 100,000 miles exactly. This is by far the best 944 for extended road trips. And by the way, mine is for sale

I hit 31 mpg with cruse set at 95 mph for a tank full crusing through Kansas a few years back. On the same trip in illinois cruse set at 65 mph and I got 26.5 mpg.

Cool picture of your car!

My high MPG story: drove home from Watkins Glen the 4 hours on a 1/2 a tank of gas, pulling a tire trailer!

It really does well in highway driving. On a 5K trip through the U.S. I consistently got 28 mpg in my cab with a passenger.

To revive this... my S2 has 250,000km now, and my last tank was on 95 and I managed 10.2l/100km mixed driving. Currently I am running on 98 to see if it makes a difference, and so far I have done 200km on 1st quarter... so will see and report back.

This is why my 924S is my daily driver during the summers. Its tons of fun and cheap to run.
