All vented air is hott.........
Well, my car has been doing this since last summer, but i had too many other projects going on the car at that time to deal with it, however, id like to fix it ASAP. Even when i turn the **** to the cool setting, hott air is pumped into the car......now i am not refering to the A/C just the cool air setting....any ideas??

My silver 87 NA is doing the same thing. Ever since I bought it last year it has been like this. No control whatsoever over the temperature-its always hotter than hell. I checked for the common clip problem behind the console but it looks fine. Could the climate control panel itself be fried? What else could it be?

Mike.. First, check the fuse for the CC system; default on fuse failure is full heat (dam', I've already forgotten who first posted that useful tidbit). Then pull the brain out of the dash & check to be sure that all the plugs on the back are tight. Plug & unplug them a few times to be sure any corrosion on the pins & sockets is broken.
Then check the vacuum line to the heater valve; be sure it's hooked up, that it has vacuum when the heat is supposed to be off, and that it's actually closing the valve on start-up or when y9ou cycle the temp control (again, failure mode is full heat).
(Dammit, I _really_ meant to start a betting pool this year on when the first of these posts would show up.....8-))

Mike, check that the heater control valve is closed. It is vacumm controlled and is located on the back of the engine slightly under the intake. You can see the arm on the top of the heater valve move as you turn the heat on and off. The vacumm control lines come from the inside of that car and connects to a control valve on the passenger side of the air duct box.
