Default Check Out My NEW Shifter!!

I had a shifter made for my by a kid at my school who is in machining class. I paid $40 for it and it is awesome. It is made out of billet aluminum. The ball piece screws in and it works very well. It is like the one lindsey racing sells for $280.
What A DEAL!- and NO, he will not make anymore.
here are some pictures. Sorry for the pictures not being real good.

As long as you can buy those pins, seems like a decent piece.

Glad you're happy with it. Looks like an improvement over stock. Not trying to be a dick, but he could have done a better job with some of it.

I know, I wish I would have made it. I would have shortened it.

I think it is a terrific final job/part from a student in a school machine shop!
I hope the student gets an "A"

I was the poster child for shop classes in High School. My instructors were the monotone, burned out, aged, near retirement teachers who had not changed thier daily teaching plan for years.

The ball piece looks like it should have a lock nut up against the bullet aluminum shift lever.

yeah, I put one on.

the only bad thing when I drove it was this new one is it is not slightly angled toward the driver like the stock one is.

Those rubber bushings on the shaft look like 951 bushings. If you do not like the feel, switch the bushings and gear **** to a 944. Nah, you'll get used to it.

This is on my list next.I'm doing mine alittle different. I looked and can't find a drawing with any plastic piece between the shift rod and shifter stud. There is alot of slop in the factory one. Did later years have a plastic sleeve or are they all metal2metal contact?

the stock shifters do have a little slop, but not much. My new one has very little. On my '87 951, the ball part goes into a plastic piece.

I'm referring to the pin that goes through the long shifter rod. Mine is metal2metal, I thought they had a plastic piece/sleeve between the 2 from factory?

Also the shifter stud can be drilled/tapped left or right to get any offset you'd like. I see what you were talking about the factory piece offset because the shifter rod is offset from the Torque tube centerline. My design will also have an interchangeable shift rod on top for any shift **** setup.

Leather cover the plastic part. Maybe have PORSCHE embossed on it.
