Geeze, miss out by one day!! Might want to drop the AX chair an email and ask if you can attend the novice school, can't hurt.

I am going to go even though I am not a novice. Hopefully I can get some runs in and start to shake off the rust.

Here is what I gathered from my helmet hunt last year (Snell Ratings):
M2000(cheaper and made for lower duty applications)
-Ususally a bit lighter
-Designed for single impact
-Doesn't usually have the level of fireproofing
-Padding seems to be a bit less...but that might just be me.
SA2000 (More expensive and heavy duty; sometimes higher quality)
-Heavy Duty
-Designed for multiple impact
-Usually made to be fireproof
-Good deal of padding
For autocross you might want to check out the helmets in person. If your local club allows M2000 helmets (most do) then you may find one of those to be not only cheaper but more comfortable too. If ever plan to do D.E. down the road, spring for the SA2000 helmet.
