Default Specialty tools required for Belts & Water Pump Change?

I have a 1987 944 and am going to replace the timing/balancing belts and water pump while I fix a leaky camshaft housing gasket and wanted to know which specialty tools I should purchase and where you suggest I look at purchasing from.
Thanks!

Start here :

The tools are available all over the place. Try Ebay and all the usual 944 parts vendors. Also check and see if there is anyone in your area willing to let you borrow theirs.

u need a flywheel lock. and a 15/16 or 24mm socket. otherwise it's just common tools. a thin wrench would be useful but not absolutely critical.

Here is a useful tool I made from a Craftsman 'tappet' wrench. If you search on Arnworx (sp?) you should find some good information (a vendor who creates his own tools for this job).

A fellow lister sells all the tools and a timing belt tensioner. I have them all and have great luck with them, as have many on RL.

Yeah, just get the Arnnworx tools. Bruce is a great guy and they are quality tools. A must for any 944 do-it-yourselfer.

All you really need is the flywheel lock and you really really want the balance belt/spring tensioner wrench with the 2 pins on it. Makes it way easy to get the balance belt pulleys off and on and it works great to retract the spring tensioner. I got mine off paragon.

Flywheel lock is really useful.

I use harbor freight 90 degree needle nose for the balance shaft pulleys and a crow's foot wrench on 3/8" drive extension to retract the spring tensioner.

(In fact, I was working on the car this weekend and taking video.)

DO NOT GET...
The Krikit tension tool. Not accurate for a new owner and frustrating to use.
The Harbor Freight belt tension tool. Will not fit.
The old style water pump. Get the upgraded pump with the bigger idler roller and chrome belt guard.

Do not forget to buy...

The tension tool from www.arnnworx.com
A 90 degree snap ring plier for the waterpump "C" ring'
A flywheel lock makes the job easier.
If you are replacing the WP (water pump) replace the front crank seal and "O" ring at the same time. If the oil pump sleeve has a groove from the seal replace it as well or the new seal will be chewed up.
Get a new updated cam gear bolt.
Get the missing plug in the cam distributer housing cover--camshaft bolt plug:

New rollers if yours have never been changed. The old ones are brittle.

Read how to use the tools and do the work:
