Thanks, John..It is sad how many boards and chat rooms (Wheels in AOL comes to mind) can be destroyed or disrupted by morons.

If you read John's post he was addressing porschekiller's profile stating he was in italy.

[quote] porschekiller (you stated in your Profile you are in "italy" - but you are coming in from the SE USA? <hr></blockquote>
if you read his post, you would have seen it said he said he was from italy but was really transmitting from the southeast USA. I was stating that AMAF was not, as everyone was accusing him wrongly.

Thanks John. Excellent use of judgement in my opinion.

On another note.....notice that John is user #4? Who the heck would be users #1 - #3? (Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit?)

Hi..!

OK - I am also User #1, but when I beta test a new Board, I usually ask a few folks to test them out - and since this Board was all all new technology, I just cut the Beta Testors into production server when we went live. So, Viken B. was the second to sign in and Rick T. was the second.. etc... Anyway - I just post under this User number - hoping to accumulate posts so I can reach Guru status ....

Seriously, I have a new forum I've been playing with under development - and you are invited to take a look, but it's on a very slow system right now (rather then a production server), and it has some very different features - like.....

- Quick Reply at the bottom of every message (you won't have to open a different REPLY TO page);
- The ability to report a post to the admin (me) if it's abusive;
- A spell checkkkker system built into QuickReply and Reply post message areas ;
- Automatic Image resizer for large photos uploaded that are the size of Montana;
- a "Shout" box - where what you type is inserted as the footer to ALL the Forums and users;
- News Fader feature;
- AIM and other info;
- Maybe a CHAT area in real time;
- Jump to newest post in a thread;
- blah, blah, blah.....

However - the final graphics will be changed (remember - this is my development system and the site is on-line and off line as I program it. Also - if you do register to play with the new site - you can NOT change your user number - these will be imported from these Forums if and when I go live with the code (nice try though ....

Anyway - here is the URL - feel free.... I'll open it up in just a bit so you can post without having to get an e-mail and re-login - and when you "register" it will log you in automatically.....

Have fun....

JohnD...does it run on v-bulletin? I haven't seen any newer versions of this BBS software...most everywhere went to v-bulletin as it allows importing of UBB users, posts, etc. The only thing I don't like about v-bulletin is it seems like more of a hog than UBB and runs a bit slower and tends to crash more often...especially on a heavily saturated BBS like this. Other than that, I like everything about it better. Whats the deal?

Hi Ribs...!

Nope - this is UBB again. I actually have vBulletin installed and played with - along with several other (mostly PHP/MySQL based). Anyway - under the load testing - vBulletin is OK - but honestly, you are exactly right - from my standpoint - it hogs resources more then the existing system, by a long shot... So - I think I'll stick with UBB for right now, as it handles the user loads very well - far better with some of the PHP accel. tuning...

Anyway - great input..! If you want to see a list I've got installed - I'll share them, but most folks would just scratch their head ...

Best to you!
