Set of 8 951 rods for sale

3 Attachment(s)
I have acquired a set of 8 951 con rods in excellent condition.

These could be used to build up two 944 or 968 engines, or as a set for one
928 engine.

Maybe you guys can tellme what they are worth, because I dont know. I just know there are those that swear by them as the hot setup.

H Carl,
People will probably want to know the casting number on the other side of the rod, "944.103.110.0 RARST" I think is the forged rod.

make good fest trophies..

Those are not turbo rods.

<edit: Carl, I don't mean to bust anybody's chops. Love the kit you put together for the 968 crowd.

They may be forged, but they are not 951 rods.

Part # please, that may prove helpful.>

Part number is 944 103 111 1R On the other side they say "S5"

I cant find it in the Porsche PET.

Anybody?

Not 951 rods (not the good ones anyway)

they look like NA rods to me

911racer 01-05-2010 12:21 PM

What is the part number for the good rods.

Thanks

Ed

These rods are definately forged. We can see the parting line and the forging marks.

The turbo forged rods:

Part # would point to an S2 or 968 - made after the of the 944.103.110.0 RARST part. There was another forged rod used in the early 944's that was part # 944.103.101.0 RARST

Those look like the NA rods - the shoulders that transition the big end to the shaft look wimpy to me compared to the 110 and 101 rods.

Jfrahm 01-05-2010 01:59 PM

They could be the early 968 rod. The S2 rod is 944.103.008.02. The 968 rod is supposed to be forged and the early rod part number has been superseded by the reinforced rod with more meat around the shoulders. The early rods are sometimes called '1R' Rods so that makes sense, unfortunately.

Also, the rod section isn't tapered from top to bottom, as on the fogred turbo. They look good though.

Yeah I was also going to say they look like 968 rods. It's been a while since I've looked at my '95's rods though so I couldn't say if they look more like early 92 or like late 92 - 95.

Late 968 rods are hard to sell because anyone on the market for rods either wants 951 or aftermarket. Early 92 rods would be pretty much worthless.

They are definitely not 951 rods, nor S2 rods. They don't look like NA rods either.

Thanks for the info guys. Just my luck they are "mystery rods".

I just listed them on eBay, I only want $265 per set of 4.

We'll see what happens.
