Seattle Dyno Day - 2nd Annual - May 10th

GENERAL:

 • Location: Carburetor and Fuel Injection Connection (aka CarbConn, ECS Dyno), Kirkland, WA

 • Directions: http://www.carbconn.com

 • Date: 10 May, 03

 • Time: 10 am - 4 pm (arrive at 9:30 am)

 • Cost: $65 per car (3-4 runs, as available), $10 Air/Fuel hookup

DETAILS:
 • Need RSVP of at least 5 cars to get discount (actually, 4 + me). Regular prices are $95 per car, $50 for air/fuel. Alex says we can run 15-18 cars!

 • Need to start as early as possible to allow for max runs, max participation, and even slight tuning.

 • This is considered a "club event" which will probably not allow for much tuning outside of quick plug-n-play changes (for instance: I'll be testing chips)

 • No additional tie-downs are needed. They surely appreciate having Dyno specific attaching points, but can and have done all Porsches without them. If available, bring your front tow-eye. (I may have a spare to loan)

 • Turbos will probably not be able to do much past 3 runs due to heat soak. There may not be enough time in-between runs to allow proper cooling of intercooler. They do have the "wind tunnel" fan to help out though.

 • The "Dyno": Dynamometer, dynojet model 248C, 48" drum. You will receive a printout of your runs (HP, TQ, A/F, etc).

 • The "Dyno Guy": Alex; Very knowledgeable, very nice, very interested in a '44 day (currently building his own 89 951 for Club Race, with a Wolf EMS - and also building a 968 bodied 944 Turbo full GT race car estimated to hit the 600HP mark)

 • This event is for baseline testing of cars. They do offer a full test-n-tune opportunity by appointment.

Please RSVP if you know you'll be able to attend. Any other questions, please Email me. Onlookers VERY welcome, looks to be a fun day. I'll have the morning treats to sweeten the pot.
Last years event went very well - no blown engines! We ran 10 or 11 cars, but had ~15 in attendance.
Yes, there will also be some door-prizes from Paragon!
B E E R - We'll certainly need a few brews to wash down the fumes. The Redhook Brewery is just a few miles from the Dyno place, so I figure we can gather there once the runs are complete.

When: Saturday, May 10th (5pm'ish)
Where: Redhook Brewery, Woodinville, WA
Directions: http://www.redhook.com/brewpubs/woodinville/index.html

This is very informal, so no rsvp's or anything... just letting you know at least I will be there with my closest friend (me).

Here's my Graemlin enhanced perception of the Dyno day:

Hope to meet you there!

I am in. I think IanM and RichS are in too. Gonna talk to Lance, Randy_J, Dr.Robert and Wes. Dont think MarkSport is gonna make it this time. Supercharger, Big Reds going in. Darrel moved away to kelowna aka silve 968 owner. :p We are talking USD I take it?

Hey John D. can you put a temp permanent post on this link? Just so ppl will see it?

IanM 03-13-2003 09:55 PM

Skip -
In similar fashion as last year, my company is threatening to ship me off for the better part of the year. No, not Argentina this time...Montana. I'll have to leave myself as a "hopefully maybe", but not a "for sure". I'll do my best to be there!

944S2NUT 03-13-2003 09:57 PM

No prob Ian, I can take your car instead of mine. :p Just leave the keys under your front door mat.

944S2NUT 03-13-2003 09:58 PM

Hey skip any chance of getting my car lowered when I am there?? Or we need to plan a full day for that?

IanM 03-13-2003 10:03 PM

Sure...and maybe you can get your oil changed while you're there too...

This is a DYNO DAY!!! You know, strap the car down, do a few pulls, strap the next car down, etc...

944S2NUT 03-13-2003 10:05 PM

Yah your right screw the lowering, another day :D OR! Could we poss do it before the dyno day Skip?

944S2NUT 03-14-2003 12:37 AM

Skip, if something is not tweaked right on my car, and its simple to tweak, is that something you guys will adjust there? to gain better dyno numbers?? Newb question I know.

Fonck 03-14-2003 12:39 AM

Count me in for dyno day!

I hope to be there. But there are 2 things that this will depend on.

1. I need to get a day off from work.
2. I need to check the date, but I may be in Michigan with the Western Washington Univ Formula SAE crew in a competition.

I'll try to give you a more finite answer as the day draws nearer.

944S2NUT 03-14-2003 03:17 AM

Oil change hmmmm. LOL I swear your mesg said something else. Along the lines of Vroom vroom. lol Actually Skip and I are setting up a day to do some configurations to my car. I was thinking maybe after the dyno testing at his home, I realized

that he is gonna wanna party!!!! after.

Its all good. We will setup a time. :D

michaeldean 03-14-2003 05:00 AM

I'm in! I'd like to test my Guru chips and compare them to stock.

Cheers,
Michael

DangerIsland 03-14-2003 01:29 PM

I'm in too! I'm really hoping the turbo is ready to go by then, if it's not, then I'll dyno whatever car I drive, just for grins :)

I don't like the look of your graemlin progression there skip. Why's the one in the middle crying? Lets hope it's because of low numbers, not a tossed belt.

Looks like I may again have the low HP car of the day... last I took home bottom honors with only 143HP. Woohoo! Anyone bringing a moped? :D
